What’s in a day? The hidden benefits of a midweek wedding!

Whilst Saturday is well known to be the most popular day of the week to get married, midweek weddings are certainly on the rise, especially due to date availability because of the impact of postponements during the COVID-19 pandemic.

But what is in a day? Here are our top 10 reasons why we think you should consider booking a midweek wedding date…

Cut your Wedding Costs

1: Save money on your wedding venue
The cost of your wedding venue will probably be one of the largest expenses in your wedding budget. However, you will find that hiring a wedding venue on a weekday can significantly reduce the cost, in comparison to a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Due to Covid-19 postponements, demand is higher on weekends, so these dates have to be priced at a premium, but if book you wedding on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, the reality is that you’re still booking the exact same venue, but due to demand, the overall cost will be less expensive.

2: Save your wedding guests money
Not only can you achieve some significant savings as a couple, but you can also save your guests money by booking a midweek wedding. Your wedding guests may need to stay in a hotel overnight and room rates even at the most luxury hotels may drop during the week. Getting to your wedding may also be less busy for your guests during the week in terms of traffic, public transportation and flights.

3: Benefit from a more affordable honeymoon
Couples dream of an idyllic honeymoon – and a midweek wedding could save you money on this trip too. Weekends tend to be some of the most expensive days of the week to fly, so if you dream of jetting off the morning after your celebrations, a Friday or Saturday wedding may only add to your expenses. Opt for a Monday wedding and your flights on a Tuesday could save you hundreds of dollars.

4: Run your day how you want
It’s not just wedding venues who book up well in advance, but celebrants and churches too. Celebrants/Churches conduct several weddings throughout a day, so the more couples getting married each day, the more competition there is to book your celebrant or church at the time you want. As weekends tend to be busier, a celebrant or church may only be available to conduct your ceremony earlier in the day, or later in the afternoon. However, celebrants or churches typically have far more availability midweek, so you can choose exactly when you want your ceremony, meaning the rest of your celebrations can flow exactly as you’ve always imagined.

6: Book your favourite wedding suppliers with ease
Have you got your eye on a particular band you want to create the perfect party for you? Or perhaps you love how a particular photographer works and are desperate to have them capture your special day on camera. The best wedding suppliers tend to be in high demand and you won’t want to lose out on such an important aspect of your day simply because of what day of the week your wedding is on. Choose a midweek date and your wedding suppliers will likely have far greater availability. On top of all that, you may be the only wedding that the supplier has booked in for the day, in which case, you’ll receive their whole and undivided attention.

7: Add extra special touches
The savings you could achieve by booking your wedding venue during the week could mean you have room in your budget for some extra special wedding touches. How about a firework display to add a spectacular highlight to your first dance? Or, consider upgrading your wedding package or why not include a stunning food station?

8: Everyone gets a day off work!
If you send out Save the Date cards early enough, your wedding guests should be able to take the day off work in order to attend your special celebration. Your guests may welcome an exciting day out of the office and depending on the location of your wedding venue, they may even be able to turn it in to a mini-break away!

9: Celebrate on a Special Date
Have you thought about getting married on the anniversary of when you first met? Or perhaps it would be magical if you married on your proposal-versary? Limiting yourself to a weekend wedding might not allow you to do this, plus, a significant date is far more meaningful than a date chosen out of necessity.

10: What will my guests think about a mid-week wedding?
The world is indeed in uncharted waters as we navigate through the COVID-19 era. Guests are not going to question why you are getting married on a Tuesday, instead they are going to thank you for inviting them, in sharing in your happiness and not cancelling your special day.

Remember:

• No one ever looks at your wedding photos and asks “what day of the week did you get married?”
• The food at a venue tastes the same on Monday
• Wedding photos look the same on a Thursday
• Your guests will have just as great a time dancing on a Tuesday
• The sun sets the same way on a Wednesday
